Rienzi man dies in Alcorn County traffic accident

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating an accident in Alcorn County that claimed the life of a Rienzi man, according to Trooper Ray Hall. Troopers were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. Saturday, to the crash scene on US 72 approximately 6 miles west of Corinth, in Alcorn County.
It appeared Leroy Rogers, 78, of Rienzi, was traveling west on US 72, in a 2002 Ford pic-up, when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the road, collided into a culvert, rolled over an collided into two parked vehicles.
Rogers received fatal injuries from the accident. He had to be extricated from the vehicle.
A 17-year-old passenger received minor injuries.
Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers were trying to determine if weather was a contributing factor in the wreck. It appeared the vehicle hydro planned causing Rogers to lose control.
The accident remains under investigation.
