Ann McLendon
TUPELO – Ann Lumpkin McLendon, 92, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at the Martin House at Traceway. She was born June 22, 1920, to Houston and Chester Dare Lumpkin of Tupelo. She met her husband, Larry, in 1939 at Riley’s Jewelers in Tupelo. They married in 1942 and they were married 62 years before his death in September 2004. She was a wonderful Christian wife and mother as well as a homemaker and member of the First Christian Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Larry L. McLendon III of Tupelo; one sister, Doris Gooden of Tucson, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry L. McLendon Jr.; two brothers, Elford Lumpkin and Houston Lumpkin Jr.; three sisters, Margaret Martin, Katherine Jones and Nell Snipes.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. – Kevin Curtis Johnson, 44, died Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Memphis.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time today.

FULTON – Roger Young, 58, formerly of Fulton, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at his home in Columbus. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

Malik Glaspie
BRUCE – Malik Glaspie, 10, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, as the result of a house fire at his home. He enjoyed church, animals and cartoons.
Services will be at noon Friday at Jackson Chapel M.B. Church in Bruce. Pastor Thomas Tillman will officiate. Burial will be in Thompson Chapel Cemetery in Houlka. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his father, Stacy Glaspie. and his mother, Teresa Watkins; brothers, Daisheon Watkins, Isaiah Watkins, and Eriq Watkins; sisters, Shalantesa Smalley, Portia Watkins, Laquetta Watkins, Shuaquilla Watkins, Aeriana Watkins and Kedeyja Glaspie; and extended brothers and sisters, Hayden Watkins, Jaden Watkins, Jordan Neal and Jakii Watkins.

EUPORA – Donnie Lamb, 65, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mathiston First Baptist Church in Mathiston. Burial will be in the Eupora City Cemetery. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is in charge of the arrangements.

BATESVILLE – Ann Hanks Dettor, 77, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

BRUCE – Madyson Kelis Smalley, 3, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, as the result of a house fire at her home.

Russell Burdette Sr.
BOONEVILLE – Russell Richard Burdette Sr., 70, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at his home. He was born July 9, 1942, in Greenup, Ky., to Norman Milton Burdette and Florence Mae Donaldson Burdette. He was a career United States Army veteran, with service in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Marksmanship Badge. He was a member of Casey Creek Baptist Church. He was kind and loving and would give anyone in need the shirt off of his back. He especially loved little children.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Mike Reeves and Bro. David Westmoreland officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Shady Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Moore Burdette, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1967; two sons, Russell Burdette Jr. and R.C. Burdette, both of Booneville; a daughter, Beth Ann Torrence of Booneville; three brothers, Terry Burdette (Amanda), Bill Burdette (Pete) and Jim Burdette, all of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Stewart and Pearl Abeena (Joe), all of Columbus, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; a special brother-in-law, James Ellis Moore (Brenda) of Dewberry, Fla.; four special children that he claimed as his grandchildren, Mallory Glendy, Miracle Dunn, Peyton Hodge and Morgan Floyd.
He was preceded in death by his parents: and a brother, Bob Burdette.
Pallbearers are Jeff Guin, R.C. Burdette, Kenny Floyd, Stewart Hodge, John Ross Lindley and Timmy Webster.
Honorary pallbearers are Mallory Glendy and Miracle Dunn.
Manell Brice
