McCain new principal of Ninth Grade Academy

Katie McCain

Katie McCain has been named the new principal at Bartlett High School Ninth Grade Academy beginning with the 2022-2023 academic school year, Bartlett City Schools announced Tuesday, May 17.
McCain has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi. She has 20 years of educational experience, starting as a math teacher at the Millington High School Freshman Academy. McCain also served as lead district math teacher with Shelby County Schools and as an assistant principal at Millington Central High School.

She started her career with Bartlett City Schools (BCS) as the first 6-12th grade instructional supervisor, a position she has held for the last eight years. As instructional supervisor, she helped lead the team that created the Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy. She also developed and continues to support the Bartlett City Schools Honors Academy, which provides students with the opportunity to further their academic skills in preparation for college, supports professional development for 6-12th teachers, and implements curriculum in all subject areas.
“I am proud to announce Katie McCain as the new Bartlett Ninth Grade Academy principal,” Dr. David Stephens, superintendent of Bartlett City Schools, said in a release. “Katie was instrumental in helping our district create and launch the Academy during our first year. She has a been a key member of the Bartlett City Schools district team from day one and I am excited to see the Academy continue to flourish under her leadership.”
McCain, a product of Bartlett schools, said she is looking forward to serving in this new role.
