Emma Ames, 22, daughter of Donald and Darlene Ames of Bartlett, has earned the 9-Year National Award from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She performed a 10-piece memorized program each year for nine years in Germantown’s National Piano Guild Auditions, where she earned an A+, Superior Plus rating. Ames received the Guild’s 9-year pin, a certificate, report card, a medal, and a porcelain bust of Tchaikovsky from her teacher, Benita Pepper of Lakeland, with whom she has studied piano for 13 years and performed in eleven recitals.
Ames has performed community service through her church, Advent Presbyterian, by working in food drives, and serving as a greeter on Sunday mornings. In her leisure time, she enjoys playing guitar, bowling, painting, and watching hockey games on TV. She has completed two years at Southwest TN Community College, and plans to study computer engineering and technology at the University of Memphis.
Ames would like to assemble computers in the future, and is currently employed at Dry Clean Super Center in Bartlett, where she has worked for two years.
