Dorian Weems Earns National Award

Dorian Weems, 13-year-old son of Freeman and Qing Weems of Arlington, has earned the Six-Year National Award following the National Piano Guild Auditions in Germantown. Weems performed a 10-piece memorized program each year for six years, earning five Superior (A) ratings, and a Superior-Plus (A+) rating this year.  He received the Guild’s six year National pin, a medal, a certificate and report card. Weems also received a porcelain bust of Bach from his teacher, Benita Pepper of Lakeland, with whom he has studied piano for six years and performed in five recitals.

In addition to the piano, Weems also plays percussion in his school band., and recently completed 7th grade at Arlington Middle School, where he made the academic Honor Roll every six-weeks.  He is a member of the Perennial Math Competition team, which won 2nd place in the National Competition last year.  Weems enjoys playing tennis on the Silver Team for the Arlington Tennis Organization and enjoys working as a dog-sitter in the summer. He plans to attend college at Notre Dame in Indiana, after graduation, with a major in business.
