For the second time this calendar year, the train tracks cutting through Stage Road have been the scene of an accident.

On July 2, a SUV was struck by a passing train after being pulled over by a Tennessee State Highway Patrol trooper. A witness said that before a train collided into an SUV, the driver appeared to have been pulled over by a state trooper.

The vehicle, a black Jeep Compass,  was still on the tracks before being hit by the train. Bartlett Alderman Kevin Quinn took some photos that Wednesday morning of the damage at the intersection.

Quinn reported on his personal Facebook page around 11:30 a.m., a damaged SUV in the intersection, with a freight train stopped on the tracks. State troopers are on the scene at Stage Road and near Bartlett Boulevard.

Back in April near the same intersection a funeral company limousine was struck while escorting a family. The limo driver and funeral escorts were cited in that incident and no deaths came from the accident.

The July 2 incident had no casualties as well. A couple of witnesses on the scene said the motorists was pulled over by a state trooper and the vehicle seemed to still be on the tracks when stopped. There seemed to be confusion as the woman tried to get out of harm’s way. The incident is still under investigation.
