Bartlett Police Chief recognizes Dispatchers

Chief Jeff Cox
Bartlett Police Department

With this week being National Public Safety Week, I want to recognize the very important people in our Police Department, our Dispatchers.

Since 1981, the second week of April has been recognized as National Public Safety Telecommunicators week. During this week, we celebrate the men and women who are the heartbeat of our department. Everything we do here at the police department and the fire department starts and ends with our dispatchers. They work around the clock to make sure that not only police and fire are safe every time they make a call, but they also spend hours talking to our citizens making them feel safe and secure as they wait for our services.

Between the thin blue line and the thin red line lies the thinnest of lines. THE THIN GOLD LINE. This thin gold line represents those who are rarely seen but mostly heard. The calm voice in the dark night. They are the calm voice in the middle of chaos for all of us. They have nerves of steel and hearts of gold.

Your commitment to your profession is most certainly appreciated, and thank you for your pledge to building a safer community one call at a time.

We are so proud of our dispatchers and they are the gold glue that holds it all together. Please join me in thanking our dispatchers this week. They are true HEROS.
