Bartlett celebrates Arbor Day

Bartlett hosted its Arbor Day Ceremony on March 2 at the Justice Center on Appling Road with a few words about trees as a valuable and renewable resource and the planting of a tree for future generations to enjoy. The city also gave away seedlings for silky-leafed dogwoods, swamp chestnut oaks and bald cypress trees after the ceremony. This is Bartlett’s 11th year to be named as a Tree City. PICTURED, from left, are Shawn Posey, regional urban forester for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture; Jay Caughman, the 2017 recipient of the Jeanette Rainey Volunteer of the Year Award and the honoree for this tree planting; State Commissioner Jai Templeton of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture; Tennessee Representative Ron Lollar; Mayor Keith McDonald; and Alderman Emily Elliott.
