Girls in grades 4+ can enter Girl Scouts infographic contest

Girl Scouts Heart of the South - logo-smallThe Girls Scouts Heart of the South regional council, based in Memphis, is calling for girls to enter the nationwide One Heart One Voice National Infographic Contest. It is open to all girls in grades 4-12.

The event is in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and of the voice that inspired change. The goal is to have girls examine today’s global civil and human rights issues and show how they can make a difference in this world. For the winner, it is a chance to travel to Memphis and be part of the MLK50 celebration and visit the National Civil Rights Museum.

Girls can say create an entry simply by creating an innovative storyline. Of course, the more creative and relatable to everyone, the better. An infographic is a visual representation, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. Entrants can access many free infographic templates online, such as or

“This is their chance to let their voices be heard by telling Girl Scouts Heart of the South how these issues impact them, how they can have compassion for others, how each of us can make a change, and how we can speak with One Heart and One Voice,” said Melanie Schild, CEO of Girl Scouts Heart of the South.

The deadline to enter the contest is Friday, March 9. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. Winners will be announced via Girl Scouts Heart of the South social media, via email, and on the website.
