Repairs from a windy Sunday

Stormy weather and strong winds took down 12 trees in Bartlett over Sunday afternoon and evening. A Bartlett Public Works spokesman said damages included five big oaks on the north end of Broadway, three trees across Luther and one each on Brunswick Road, the north end of Old Brownsville Road and Altruria Road at Sungate. Three of them downed their adjacent power lines, and a couple of the trees tangled with phone lines. Bartlett, however, didn’t receive any reports of significant flooding from the weekend’s bad weather. PICTURED: Repair is underway at Stage Road and Kirby Whitten, where strong gusts broke the tether line that keeps traffic signal lights from swaying too much in the wind. Then a big truck accidentally snagged the broken line and pulled two of the signals down. Photo by Amanda Swain
