Women are still significantly underrepresented in Congress

Even as Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton attempts to shatter what she has called “the highest, hardest glass ceiling,” women in the U.S. remain significantly underrepresented at all levels of elected office. Although women account for half of the population, only one in five members of Congress is female.
