Olympus kicks off $12 million construction project in Bartlett
The groundbreaking ceremony for a massive $12 million Olympus service center in Bartlett was July 14 despite a burst of summer rain.
Indoors, professionals from Chris Woods Construction Company, Olympus Surgical Technologies America and Renaissance Group gathered to celebrate the milestone.
The two-story 110,000-square-foot facility will employ nearly 300 people and support one of the largest concentrations of medical device growth in the country.
It is scheduled for completion by April 2017.
Area dignitaries and corporate leaders at the special event included Joe Doherty, president of Olympus Surgical Tech-nologies America; Nacho Abia, president of Olympus Corporation of the Americas; Allen Borden, assistant commissioner, Tennessee Depart-ment of Economic and Community Development; Bartlett Mayor A. Keith McDonald; Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell Jr. (invited); and Chris Woods, president of Chris Woods Construction.
