Recent student winners have been announced for the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) essay competition. They include the following students at St. Ann Catholic School and Rivercrest Elementary School, both in Bartlett (see photo captions below). D.A.R.E. was first established in the City of Bartlett in 1992 in response to the drug-related deaths of three area teens. Schools in Bartlett were the first to implement the D.A.R.E. program in Shelby County. Since then the program has proven itself to be both informative, and fun, for children, providing them with valuable tools for coping in our modern world.
