Tax-free buys get children set for school year
It’s hard to believe that the 2015-16 school year starts on Monday. Are you ready?
The state’s annual tax-free weekend is a great chance to stock up on some bargains. The tax break will last from 12:01 a.m. Aug. 7 through 11:59 p.m. Aug. 9.
Items that qualify include clothes purchases of $100 or less, school supplies of $100 or less, and computers of $1,500 or less. See details and restrictions online at bit.ly/no-tax2015.
New Neighbors Coffee promotes service and fun
Bartlett residents are welcome to participate in the monthly New Neighbors Coffee. New Neighbors is a nonprofit organization of neighbors meeting neighbors through social activities and community service.
For August, the coffee will be 9:30 a.m. Aug. 13 at the home of Denise Leyes. The event is always on the second Thursday of each month. For details or to join, call Julia Williams at (901) 626-3649.
